Too hot!  Too much sand!  Gas costs too much!  Not much out there to be found! Too tired and too many other things I need to do!

I've heard it all before - in fact I've been there at times.  Things can get in your way, but you can't let the excuses win.  Other people are out there killing it.  Yes, they are doing something different, but that is the point.

It might be a bad time for you.  It is a bad time for many people.  In fact, the country's new mascot is the ill-eagle.

Ill-Eagle

There are situations that can get you down.  But you can climb back up.

Habits are for nuns - not for people that need a change.

Sometimes situations are not ideal - in fact they seldom are, so that is the challenge.

Things are not fair - at least not in the way some people want them to be.  Everybody is unique and everybody has a unique situation, including unique obstacles and unique talents.  You'd be surprised what you can do, if you really try.

But there are priorities.  What do you really want?  Maybe you've been chasing the wrong things.  Maybe your joy is to be found elsewhere.

I enjoy overcoming obstacles.  I enjoy the problem solving.  Now that doesn't mean I enjoy all problems - of course I don't - and problems can be a real pain, but sometimes an obstacle can fore you onto a better path.  Whatever it is, "This too shall pass."   But the main thing is to keep your eye on the important things.

Everything changes.  But in the mean time, if you are committed, you can probably find a solution.

It is important to look is at yourself.  That is where you can make a lot of changes.

When I'm metal detecting at the beach, and a non-detectorist seems very curious about what I'm finding, I wonder if they are so curious about it, why they don't try it and find out for themselves.  That is how I started.  In fact, curiosity is still one of the biggest things that drives me.  But you can be curious forever, or you can take the next step and try it yourself.

So, if there is too much sand, gas costs too much, you haven't been finding much, etc. etc., what are you going to do about it?  There is a solution.  You can make some changes and do things differently.

Maybe you need a pause to think things through and come up with some new ideas.  Maybe it is time to start something new, take a new direction or move to a new level of commitment and activity.

There is the external situation, but there are also internal factors, such as motivation and imagination.  You won't likely accomplish much without motivation.  You seldom get anywhere without the motivation.

Imagination is important in many ways.  Are you inspired.  Probably not if you are in your terrible toos. You know - the too much sand, too little time, too few finds mentality.  It can be a matter of too little motivation, too little creativity, too little effort, too little research, too little thought, and maybe the wrong priorities.

It probably isn't going to be easy.  It probably shouldn't be.  What is common, and what is easy, isn't treasure.

If it was easy, it wouldn't make you stretch and improve.  For a Monarch caterpillar to become a butterfly, it molts four times, sheds its skin one more time as it pupates (becomes a chrysalis), then has to bust our ot the chrysalis and start a new life with wings.

When I began this blog, I never knew I would be posing so much every day.  I was just going to report on beach conditions.  But just like there is always some place to hunt and something to find, there is always something to think about.  There is a lot to be curious about.  There is a lot to learn.  I think we've touched on every type of science or area of study as it relates to treasure hunting,

When I started metal detecting, I never imagined that I'd stumble on indigenous artifacts, fossils, or bottles.  I started just looking for coins.  As the song from the Lion King says, "There's more to see than can ever be seen. More to do than can ever be done. There's far too much to take in here. More to find than can ever be found."  Marvelous and exciting, while frustrating at the same time.

Boredom is the domain of a lazy mind.

If you ever think there is too much sand, or its too hot, or there is too little to be found, or any of the other toos, you can blow up that imaginary mountainside of a roadblock, open up your mind and uncover the treasure within.

There is one little weather system coming off Africa that could possibly turn into something, but it is far away at this point.

The Treasure Coast surf is around two feet and not expected to get any bigger this week.
