11/7/25 Report - Valuable Escudo, silver ingot and clump of reales. Fake Money in Florida Circulation. Cache of Gold Coins.

Having just browsed session I of the current online Sedwick auction, some items already have very nice bids.  Two of the highest bids are a gold eight escudo (above) and a silver bar (below).  I also particularly noticed in this session the largest collection of shipwreck coin clumps I've ever seen.  There are two large groups.  One group included coins along with heavy encrustation (below).  Another thing that stuck out to me was the SS Republic items, including some gold nuggets.

Movie Money and U.S. Currency.

Funny money from Hollywood has made landfall in the Florida Keys.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a slew of fake bills used in blockbuster films were recently spotted circulating in the area, most notably in the Lower Keys and Key West.

"The $100 bills are marked as fake, stating they are to be used only in making motion pictures, but they may look accurate at a casual glance," officials said...

Chennai, Nov 4: In a remarkable archaeological find, workers restoring an ancient Shiva temple near the Javvadu Hills in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai district unearthed 103 antique gold coins believed to date back to the Chola period, police said on Tuesday.

The discovery was made on Monday at the historic Sivan temple in Kovilur village, when laborers renovating the sanctum sanctorum stumbled upon a mud pot buried beneath the temple floor. On opening it, they found a glittering collection of neatly stacked gold coins, astonishingly well-preserved despite the passage of centuries.

Authorities believe the temple dates back to the reign of Chola King Rajaraja Cholan III. The discovery was immediately reported to officials from the Revenue Department and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, who took custody of the coins for examination and preservation...
