This jar would date in the range of 1907 - 1921.

I've found here more brands of fruit or canning jars.than I ever knew existed.  I've found Ball, Mason, Presto, Atlas, Kerr, Tropical Canners and now Smalley, Kivlan and Onthank.  I just put this one in the tgbottlebarn.blogspot.com site with references.  It is evident that canning was a big part of life along the Indian River back in the day.

For 2026...

One nickel, one dime, and five different quarters will be the coins put into circulation next year.  The cent and half dollar will also be produced in circulation strikes, but will only be available if purchased as part of collector sets.

All of these coins will bear the double dates of 1776-2026, similar to the quarters, halves, and dollars dated 1776-1976 for the Bicentennial. The cent and nickel designs will be substantially the same as in 2025, except that they will bear the double dates...

the five design themes for the quarters will be the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address.  Of these, only the first, the Mayflower Compact, depicts a woman alongside a man. This symbolism is somewhat surprising, as the Mayflower Compact was drafted, adopted, and signed only by adult men aboard the Mayflower who were not in servitude. The other four quarters, respectively, depict George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Abraham Lincoln on the obverse...

Surprises In U.S. Mint’s Announced 2026 Circulating Coinage - Numismatic News

--

Of course, the high metals prices will affect the collectible coin market, but maybe in more ways than you might expect. I'd expect many lower value coins to be sold and melted as the melt values exceed the numismatic values.  Low-grade, common date silver coins will be the first to be melted. Damaged and cleaned coins will be among the best candidates for melting.  The same thing happened in 1979 -1980 and again in 2011.

On the contrary, high-grade or scarce numismatic coins are not likely to be melted.  Coins having scarce dates or mintmarks, high grades, strong collector demand or certified slabs won't be melted.  Coins maintaining collector interest and not being melted in numbers, including those associated with shipwrecks or other historic events, can be expected to increase in value.

Many Peace dollars were melted in 1980, which made the surviving population more valuable.  Many of the most collectible coins will increase in value.

For those of us who dig coins, we seldom get beautiful uncirculated examples.  A lot of our more common finds in poor condition are worth more in melt value.  I like keeping a good selection of my finds just to document my finds.  It is not so much about economics.  It is partly about personal accomplishment, partly about learning through experience, and partly about uncovering and, as they say, touching history.

Occasionally you might be lucky enough to add to the body of knowledge on an area or event.  I've been lucky enough to see some of my finds go to museums or published in books.  All of us that show are finds on the internet add to the general level of knowledge of the detecting community as well as the general population.  Thanks to all of you that have allowed your finds and stories of both successes and failures to be posted and read by thousands of people worldwide.

It is from the year 250, and is written in Greek. The earliest known Marian prayer, like the Gospels themselves, is written in Greek. That is why, in it, the Virgin Mary is called Θεοτοκος, “theotokos,” the “Birth-Giver of God;” in sum, “the Mother of God.” That in such early prayer the Virgin Mary is already referred to with this title is remarkable, both from a historical and a theological standpoint...

The prayer reads:

No big surf in the near future.  There was a nice high morning tide.

The days of 2026 seem to be going faster than a bag of Cheetos.

Good Hunting,
