3/22/24 Report - Detectorist Finds Papal Bulla. Ritual Artifacts. British Museum Haul. Bigger Surf Predicted.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

A man using a metal detector to search for World War II relics found a medieval artifact in Poland, a local museum said...

A papal bull is a type of public decree or charter issued by a pope during their reign. Many ancient papal bulls included a metal seal, which would have made it recognizable to a metal detector...

The location of the find made it even more surprising. There are a number of areas in Poland where papal bulls have been found and traced back to their issuers, the museum said, but rather than being found near a church site or in a city center, these fragments were found alongside a set of train tracks. The museum said there are multiple ways this could have happened, from the bull just being lost in transit or even deliberately destroyed and abandoned, but there is no way to tell what exactly led to it being buried near the tracks...

A strange collection of objects found along a major pilgrimage route may have been used in "magical rituals" by sorcerers around 400 years ago, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has announced.

While archaeologists discovered the "unique" set of objects in the 1990s in southern Israel's Eilat region, researchers now speculate these objects were used in "magic or sorcery", which, they say, shouldn't be surprising...

The unusual collection of objects discovered in the 1990s was found by one of the campsites dotted along the road, known as Netafim 2.

The objects include fragments of clay rattles, clay incense burners, anthropomorphic figurines, some seashells and a cluster of colored quartz pebbles, among others.

For a study published in the Journal of Material Cultures in the Muslim World, researchers analyzed the artifacts and discussed why they believe the items were used in such a now seemingly occult manner...

British Museum reveals bumper haul of treasures found by the public.

Caroline Nunneley was mudlarking along the shore of the Thames in London – inching on her hands and knees while scanning the mud for archaeological finds – when she suddenly spotted a miniature human skull looking up at her.

She picked up the small, exquisitely carved object and showed it to a friend. “We turned it over and we went: ‘Whoa.’ Because we hadn’t realised that there was a face on the other side.”

What they had found was a late medieval rosary bead, dating back possibly as far as 1450, that had been carved from bone and, thanks to the anaerobic river mud, perfectly preserved for five centuries....

Surf Chart from Surfguru.com.

Its interesting to watch the surf predictions.  After a while you get a feel for how they morph over days and weeks.  As I've said before, I think they have become more accurate in recent years.

Anyhow, there is a nice bump in the surf for next week, peaking on Wednesday.  Of course, it could and probably will, change some by then, but at this point it looks like we could get s peak of 6 - 8  feet Wednesday.  It is also helpful that the day before and after shows a pretty high surf as well.

The TreasureBeachesReport.blogspot.com web site just clicked over the next million mark last night.  I didn't think it would make it until today, but by the time I looked the views were already about 300 over the next million mark.

I remember starting that blog and wondering if anyone would ever read it.

Keep watching.

Good hunting,
