North End of Jensen Beach Friday Afternoon. |
This afternoon I took a look at a stretch of beaches along North Hutchinson island. I started at John Brooks and ended at Jensen beach.
Jensen Beach looked interesting. It was the most interesting of those I looked at today. In the above picture, if you look up the beach a way, you will see one nice cut and scoop. There appeared to be another nice looking spot farther south. If I had the time, that is where I would have done some good metal detecting.
Dollman Beach Friday Afternoon. |
At Dollman there was a lowered front beach and some older sand showing. It would have been my second choice today.

You might remember the anchor that was found in the water there several years ago.
I think they will be doing some more dune restoration there before long. I was surprised that the sand was down as much as it was.
Walton Rocks Beach Friday Afternoon. |
Walton Rocks looked somewhat interesting. Not real good, but interesting enough to do a little checking around.

My first stop of the day was John Brooks. You can see the little cut that ran a long distance. I'd call that one a rim.
John Brooks Beach Friday Afternoon. |
I was actually expecting to see just a little more erosion to these beaches today.

That gives you some idea of what the beaches along that stretch were doing today. As I went north to south beach conditions got a touch better. Still not a lot of erosion, but we'll be seeing a bigger surf in a few days. Today the waves were running parallel to the beach.
I didn't see any body metal detecting this afternoon.

As you can see, it is expected that the surf will be getting bigger. The high tides will be high too.
The main thing missing at this point is an angle to the waves. Hopefully that will change at some point.
Good hunting,
