4/30/22 Report - Detectorist Finds Pot of Coins. A One-Off Find.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

An amateur treasure hunter in Switzerland has discovered a buried clay pot filled to the brim with 1,290 Roman coins that date to the fourth century A.D.

However, an odd divider found within the pot — a piece of cowhide — has stumped archaeologists.

"It was clearly used as a separation," said Reto Marti, head of the archaeological department of the canton of Basel-Landschaft (informally called Baselland) in northern Switzerland, and who helped to excavate and examine the coin pot. "But why the coins are separated in two parts we cannot tell for the moment."...

Here is the link for more about that.

Two Views of Broken Clay Pipe Found on Treasure Coast.

Some finds stick out in your mind.  It might be because of their value, rarity, age, or condition, but it might be because of something else. This clay pipe sticks out to me simply because it is the only one I've ever found.  Some places they seem to be very common.  You'll see that if you watch the mudlarking videos from the Thames.  But for me, they are rare.

When you find one, you think you might find another, no matter what it is.   But even though I found this pipe about four years ago, I've not yet another.  At this point, I don't really expect to find another, and if I do, it will be a surprise.

My first Great White shark tooth find took me totally by surprise. In fact, when I bent over, I thought I was seeing a shard of glass. But it was a nice exceptionally nice fossil tooth.  It was my first fossil shark tooth find, and although I've found a lot of other fossil shark teeth, I've not found any more anywhere close to where that one was found.  Still, I always remember when I'm in that area to look for another one, but I've never found another one in that area.  I have found more since that time, but never in that area.

There are several finds that stick out to me because they've been so elusive.  It took me a long time to find the first, and never found any more.  Of course the same thing applies to coins and rings and other metal items too.  It took a long time for me to find my first reale on the Treasure Coast.  I was beginning to think I'd never find one.  That was partly due to the fact that I didn't live there and didn't know the beaches and didn't hunt them very often.

The first 18th century master stoneware ink bottle find took me a long time.  Since then, though, I've found more of them.  And they are no longer such a big deal to me.

In George Orwell's novel 1984, the four ministries are: the Ministry of Truth, the Ministry of Peace, the Ministry of Plenty, and the Ministry of Love. The Ministry of Truth controls the media; the Ministry of Peace oversees war; the Ministry of Plenty suppresses the distribution of resources; and the Ministry of Love tortures political dissidents.

I thought 1984 was fiction, but it is turning out to be prophetic.  It is now common practice, to name something in a ways that suggests the opposite of what it actually is.

Good read that I recommend, if you've never read it.

4/29/22 Report - A Look At Some South Hutchinson Island Beaches.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach Friday Around Noon.

Friday I took a look at some South Hutchinson Island Beaches.  We had a four to six foot surf, but it was hitting the beaches straight on.  As you can see there was still seaweed on those beaches, but not as heavy as the last time I looked.

John Brooks Beach Friday Around Noon.

There were no cuts at John Brooks, except for a little that was left from some time ago.  Above you can see the surf and front beach.

John Brooks Beach Friday Around Noon.

I haven't been to Blind Creek for a long time, but took a look today.  Due to the early rain and gloomy conditions, there were very few beach goers.

Blind Creek Beach Early Frida Afternoon

I like that kind of weather, parly because the beaches are not crowded, and I don't need a lot of sun anyhow.

Blind Creek Beach Early Frida Afternoon

I haven't been to Fort Pierce South Beach for a long time either.  During tourist season it was pretty crowded most of the time and it wasn't easy to find a parking spot unless you went early or late.

Fort Pierce South Jetty Friday

At Fort Pierce South Jetty, there was a lot of missing renourishment sand.  It never lasts long there.

There were some modern coins today.  The front slope had sand covering layers of seaweed.

I'm not expecting much of any improvement in beach conditions tomorrow, despite a little higher surf.

4/28/22 Report - Viking Hoards. Large Wreck Discovered During Construction. Better Thank Carbon 14 Dating.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

In 2014, an amateur metal detectorist surveying Church of Scotland land located a number of silver artifacts buried in a shallow pit. He notified local authorities, and an archaeological team was dispatched to the site, where they subsequently unearthed 22 ancient silver objects...

When it comes to Viking hoards, archaeologists know to expect the unexpected. Hundreds of these caches containing tens of thousands of objects that were hidden for safekeeping and never reunited with their erstwhile owners have been found buried beneath fields throughout Scandinavia and across Great Britain and Ireland. While many Viking hoards share similar characteristics—notably large quantities of silver—no two are identical...

Here is the link for more about that.

EHC Lootsi OÜ was aware of the location of a 13th century wreck on their property, which is located on top of what was once the estuary of the Härjapea River, but the discovery of a second wreck came as a surprise, and one that will delay completion of construction of the planned building by up to two months as the wreck is dug out by archaeologists, Postimees writes.

The wreck was measured to be 24.5 meters long by 9.5 meters wide, and experts hope to unearth it in as large of pieces as possible, noting that it is one of the best-preserved wrecks of its kind to be found yet...

A new scientific method revealed that the Shroud of Turin may truly originate from the 1st Century,

"If the cleaning procedure of the sample is not thoroughly performed, carbon-14 dating is not reliable," he explained. "This may have been the case in 1988, as confirmed by experimental evidence showing that when moving from the periphery towards the center of the sheet, along the longest side, there is a significant increase in carbon-14 (radiocarbon dating)."

A website called Aleteia reports that De Caro further explained there's greater accuracy when data is obtained by using the WAXS method. He said the technique was used on various samples of historical fabrics that date from 3000 BC to 2000 AD...

4/27/22 Report - Interesting Item Found on Fort Pierce Beach by Metal Detectorist Monday.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Object Dug Yesterday On The Treasure Coast (top center of photo)
Find and photo by Gaylen C.

Gaylen C. made an interesting find Monday. Below is how he described it.

Yesterday morning I was detecting along the bottom of the cut between South Beach Park and the south jetty of Ft Pierce inlet with my new Nokta Legend ( beach mode, C discrimination, wet sand, 25 sensitivity, 7 stability) when I got a very strong 42 signal and started to dig right at the base. Kept digging, about 10-12" and found a fairly large object. As I cleared sand away by hand I found it to be a large round object. Whoopie, I had found a cannon ball. It might be another 1715 find for me on this beach. When I got enough cleared out to lift it I found that I could not. So I stuck my shovel underneath and pried upward. As I did the object  became more exposed and proved to be cylindrical, about 12 or more inches long and 6+/-in diameter, and not round like a cannon ball. I had merely uncovered the rounded end at first. I immediately decided it was an artillery shell, and relatively modern, and called 911. After a while, FPPD officer showed up, took a look and called for help and the bomb squad. Tentatively identified as a 105mm shell, but after several hours when it was removed I found out that the bomb squad identified it as a "drop bomb" detonator, and was "unstable and hazardous". Took about 3 hrs for the bomb squad to move it off the beach, and I was told they were going to take it further south to a more remote section of beach and then detonate it.

Another View of the Object Dug by Gaylen.

Bomb Squad Removing Recovered Object.

Another View Of the Bomb Being Removed by the Bomb Squad.

Galen added the following thoughts.

I am sure this object was dumped on the beach during the latest nourishment project. Quite likely from either the inlet itself, or further out . In either case ,where it could have been dropped over the water, possibly during practice back in the day. I saw no markings on this piece. I did notice the bomb squad technician poured a bottle of water over it, either to see it more clearly, or further release it from the sand.

That is a good reminder, that you don't always know what you are digging into and it could possibly be something dangerous.

Here is a video of the removal posted on the Fort Pierce Police Department Facebook page.

Thanks Gaylen.  Interesting day at the beach.

4/26/22 Report - Amazing 1715 Fleet Coins and Items Up for Auction. Treasure Coast Beach Gold Nuggets.

Written by the Treasureguide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Those are just a few of the highlights from the current Sedwick treasure auction.  The auction has a lot of 1715 Fleet coins and other items.

You will find silver and gold bars offered in the first session too.  Below is an interesting 1715 Fleet Treasure Coast find in that session.  It is lot 69.

Here is the description.

Gold disk, 216.4 grams, marked with fineness XIX-dot (19-1/4K), ex-1715 Fleet (Fisher certified). Approx. 2-1/2" in diameter. Outstanding color (nice rich gold), compact in size but notably exactly the weight of eight 8-escudos coins, with bold fineness stamped on its smooth and attractive top, the bottom thoroughly cratered from countless trapped bubbles, one of which (in the center) was so big as to create a crackled hump on the smooth side, prompting it to be certified by the Mel Fisher company (amusingly) as a "sombrero disk," many times rarer than 1622-Fleet ingots and nearly unique as fully Fisher-certified. From the 1715 Fleet, with original Fisher photo-certificate #MF65-007

That is different, and very cool.

I forget how many years ago three raw gold nuggets were found at John Brooks beach on the slope not far from the walkover.

See The Treasure Beaches Report Direct From Florida's Treasure Coast.: 3/17/14 Report - Shipwreck Gold Nuggets, Gold Nuggets In General & Black Sails

After looking up the original post, it must they must have been found about eight years ago.  How time flies.

Take the time to log finds.  Write down the date, metal detector you were using, where it was found, the conditions and other details.  If you are like me, when some years have passed, you will forget a lot and wish you had the details written down for reference.

I don't know that I've ever seen reports of many, if any, other raw gold nuggets being found on our beaches.  Gold dust, and undoubtedly some small nuggets, are found in the water at Rio Mar, but I don't know about nuggets on the beach.  That beach, was fun to hunt at one time before a lot of sand was dumped there.  When you look back, you wish you had hunted it harder at the time, never guessing that conditions would deteriorate so much and for so long.

---

I took the Equinox out one day not long ago and stood under electric power lines to test the noise cancel function.  It worked pretty well.  I also changed the operating frequencies of the detector.  Some frequencies gave more or less depth on the test penny, but not a huge amount.  I'll do that again sometime and be more sprecific and precise.

I expected that little one or two day bump in the predicted surf to disappear, but it hasn't yet.  Maybe we'll actually get an short term increase.

4/25/22 Report - Recent Find and About Kang Hsi Porcelain. Tons of Seaweed.

Written by the Treasureguide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Piece of Broken Tea Cup Foud.

Yesterday I found the portion of the tea cup shown above.  KangHsi porcelain was carried by 1715 Fleet ships and some valuable pieces have been found, but it is not easy to tell the difference between KangHsi porcelain and other blue and white porcelain made to mimic Chinese porcelain.

I've talked about KangXsi porcelain many times before.  Here is one example.

The Treasure Beaches Report Direct From Florida's Treasure Coast.: 12/29/13 Report 1715 Fleet Kang Hsi Porcelain, European Pot Shard & Native American Shard

Many shards are very easy to distinguish from Kang Hsi.  Cheaper pottery will be thicker and the paste will be less white.

Kang Hsi will be thin, very white, and the surface coloring will not simply lie on the very surface.  If you look at the edge of a shard, you can see that the coloring has depth and looks to penetrate into the paste.

Besides that, there is another obvious clue in the above photo.  Do you know what it is?

It is porcelain, but it is not Kang Hsi.  Kang Hsi cups, as is typical of Chinese tea cups, do not have handles.

It appears the first tea cups made their way to England from imports from China. These first tea cups were handle-less and were called tea bowls. And it was not until the year of 1700 did saucers appear. In about 1750 a man named Robert Adams inspired tea sets that the tea cups had handles. The English welcomed Mr. Adams designs because they thought that the tea bowls were way too messy, and that the English often would burn their hands on the tea bowls...  (See 10d_0.pdf (byu.edu))

Here is another useful reference.

How to Identify Old Chinese Porcelain (archive.org)

That gives you makers marks, including the following mark for Kang Hsi.

When the sand is washing up keep your eyes open for other things that might also wash up.

---

Yesterday I showed how much seagrass was piling up on Treasure Coast beaches.  It appears we aren't alone.

The sargassum isn’t like typical seaweed. It forms miles out to sea, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. As it grows, it tangles upon itself and creates massive island-like structures that float west towards the Caribbean. Some of the masses have been recorded as 5km long.

At sea, they cause no problems and are actually massively beneficial for the ocean-based ecosystems. However, as they arrive on the coast they begin to cause problems for the tourist industry. As it floats in the shallow waters, the usually clear blue waters of the Caribbean are turned a murky brown. Some weaker swimmers have been known to get tangled in the seaweed too, and it can even cause rashes for those who touch it...

Here is the surf prediction.  Looks like the 5 - 8 foot surf will be short-lived if it happens at all.

If woke is making you broke that is the intent.

4/24/22 Report - John Brooks and Frederick Douglass Beaches. Cuts Are Refilling.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach Sunday Morning.

Today I got out to the beach.  The past couple of days I had other things I had to do.  If you've been reading my daily posts, you know about that.

I could see that sometime, either Friday or Saturday, John Brooks beach lost a good bit of sand.  There was a three- or four-foot cut.  Today, though, as you can see from the photos, the slope was covered by seaweed.  That indicates that the beach was refilling.  There was a nice flat area in front of the beach at low tide.  I didn't have time to check it today.

Four-Foot Cut At John Brooks Sunday Morning.

You can see a thin layer towards the bottom of the cut.

John Brooks Beach Sunday Morning.

It has been quite a while since I saw that much seaweed on the beach.

Frederick Douglass Beach Sunday Morning.

Frederick Douglass beach was similar to John Brooks, but it looks like it was not cut as nicely.

Frederick Douglass Beach Sunday Morning.

After the first day or so, the north winds shifted and now it seems like the waves are hitting E/SE.

A few days ago I did some detecting and was following an old line that was almost uncovered by recent sand loss.  I planned on talking about that but didn't get around to it yet.  I'll plan a post on lines at various levels.

There are sometimes old coin lines that have been overed for a while and then recent sand loss will bring them into detecting range.  It works very much like a regular coin line, except it is older and sometimes deeper.

The tides are a little more moderate.  We are not getting negative tides now, and the high tides are not as high.

It does look like we can get another bump in the surf in a few days.

Hopefully we do get the predicted eight foot surf.

There are a few of the secondary beaches that are down some now.  They need a little more help.

4/23/22 Report - A Mother's Treasures.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exlcusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Yesterday morning just before 9:50 AM on a beautiful spring morning in West Virginia, a weak and frail 90-pound 96-year-old mother who had been struggling with recently debilitating heart and lung problems, stared straight up towards the ceiling, then turned her head aside towards the sound of her daughter saying, "I'm here."  Not eating hardly anything for the last two weeks, the elderly woman was almost lost in the folds of the white sheets as she took last breath before the nurses realized that their frantic efforts were in vain and came to a pause.

Later the same night, the daughter searched through her mother's most cherished possessions to find pictures or remembrances for the funeral services and obituary.  She looked through the packed bottom dresser drawers where the mother's most valuable possessions were stored.

She found a yellowed newspaper clipping showing the mother as a teen in a fancy gown riding on a float in a parade just after World War II.  She found her mother's letter of acceptance to be a switchboard operator for the local telephone company.  She found a brittle old plastic baby rattle with the face of a bunny with big teeth and eyes.  She found a clip of fine yellow hair.  It belonged to her deceased brother.  She found a clip of her own light brown hair labeled "Four Years Old."  She found a collection of pressed four-leaf clovers collected over many summers.  And hand drawn birthday cards showing barely recognizable flowers drawn in crayon and cut out with scissors.  And years of report cards with notes that made the daughter smile.  And poems written by the mother with titles such as Old Man Time.

Among the mother's most cherished possessions, the daughter didn't find any rare old coins, or diamonds or gold.  Her mother's treasures were of a different sort.  They were remembrances of the things she loved the most - especially the people who she brought into the world and nurtured along the way.

And the daughter I treasure more than anything.

I showed a mystery find yesterday.  William K. said he is pretty sure the item that the item I showed yesterday is a 38 caliber wadcutter.

I found a few photos of bullets that looked similar to the one I found.   Below is an example, even though it isn't exactly the same.  The one shown below is a hollow tip.

l then ooked up "wadcutter."  Here is what I learned.

First, recoil is minimal with .38 Special WCs. Second, a full WC not only cuts easy-to-score holes in a bull’s-eye target, they can also serve well in a self-defense situation by delivering the full cross-sectional impact of a .38 caliber bullet.

So wadcutters are good for target shooting and self defense.  The reasons are explained in an  article I found in GunsMagazine, and I'm pretty sure now that the mystery item is a .38 caliber wadcutter.

Here is the link.

Metal detecting is a very educational activity.  You learn about all kinds of things.

Thanks much William.

4/21/.22 Report - A Look At John Brooks Beach. Mystery Finds. WWII History: Very Big Coil.

Written by the TreasurGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach Wednesday Early Afternoon.

As you can see, John Brooks beach was eroded a little, but only a very little.  I suspect that most of the erosion occurred Monday before the wind shifted.  There was a little seaweed, giving evidence of some refilling.

John Brooks Beach Early Afternoon Wednesday.

The slope was soft.  A lot of new sand had accumulated there in the past weeks, and I suspect it will take a while to remove it.

John Brooks Beach Early Afternoon Wednesday.

Not much erosion, but of course some beaches are slightly better than others.

As of Wednesday morning, the wind is still brisk but appears to be easterly.

I did a little metal detecting a found a few miscellaneous bits including a few coins that were obviously out there for quite a while.

Lead Find.
3/8 Inch Diameter and 5/8 Inch Long.

Above is one item I found.  At first I thought it might be a bullet, but I don't know.  I haven't seen one just like that.  I thought for a moment it could be a plug,, but the four bands circling the item are parallel, not screw like.

The bottom appears to be flat while the top slightly domed.  No holes.

What do you think?

Source: MagicSeaWeed.com.

Finally, a change!  After weeks of one- and two-foot surf, we finally have some higher water.  I hope to get out to check some of the beaches today.  We have some decent tides to go along with the higher surf.  Unfortunately, the north winds we had yesterday have shifted too.

One exceptionally interesting 1715 Fleet items for sale in the current Sedwick auction is a ring bearing

Lot 1366 In The Current Sedwick Auction.

Here is the lot description.

Gold ring engraved inside with Prayer of Saint Zacharias, approx. 20K, size 7-1/2, ex-1715 Fleet. 2.84 grams. Among the many jewels recovered from the 1715 Fleet (both by salvors and on the beach) were three gold rings plus one gold bracelet that all bore mysterious engraved crosses and letters, which we have deciphered to be what is known as the Prayer of Saint Zacharias, a divine intercession against the Black Death, from a collection of prayers against plague recorded by Saint Zacharias (d. 116 AD), preserved by Spanish monks, and approved by the Council of Trent in 1546. In our own time (even used to ward off COVID-19!) more typically we see the abbreviated prayer on double-armed crosses. The inscription inside this ring reads +Z+DIA+BIZ+SAB+Z+HG+F+BFS (see below for full text of this prayer). This ring, like the others found, is fairly large for the period and bears a little crease where the thin band was fused after engraving, but in fact it is pristine and as bright in gold as the day it was lost, all the various letters and crosses very sharp and clear. The outside bears no engraving nor ornamentation. XRF: 85% gold, 7% silver. From the 1715 Fleet.

+ O Cross of Christ, save me.

Z. May zeal for your house free me.

+ The Cross conquers; the Cross reigns; the Cross rules; by the sign of the Cross free me, O Lord, from this plague.

D. God, my God, drive this plague away from me, and from this place, and free me.

I. Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit, my heart, and my body.

A. Before heaven and earth, God was; and God is able to liberate me from this plague.

+ The Cross of Christ is able to expel the plague from this place and from my body.

B. It is good to wait for the help of God in silence, that he may drive away this plague from me.

I. I will incline my heart to performing your just deeds, and I will not be confounded, for I have called upon you.

Z. I had zeal on occasion of the wicked; seeing the peace of sinners, I have hoped in you.

+ The Cross of Christ puts demons and corrupt air† to flight and drives away the plague.

S. I am your salvation, says the Lord; cry out to me, and I will hear you, and I will liberate you from this plague.

A. Abyss calls to abyss, and you have expelled demons by your voice; liberate me from this plague.

B. Blessed the man who hopes in the Lord, and does not look upon vanities, and false extravagances.

+ May the Cross of Christ, which was once the cause of scandal and indignity, and is now in glory and nobility, be for my salvation, and expel from this place the demon, and corrupt air†, and plague from my body.

Z. May zeal for the honor of God convert me before I die, and in your name, save me from this plague.

+ May the sign of the Cross free the people of God, and those who trust in him, from the plague.

H. Will this foolish people return to the Lord? Make good on your vows, offering a sacrifice of praise and faith to him, because he is able to liberate this place and me, from this plague; for whoever trusts in him will not be confounded.

G. If I will not praise you, let my tongue stick to my throat and to my jaws; free those who hope in you; in you I trust; liberate me and this place, O God, from this plague, for your name has been invoked in prayer.

F. At your death, O Lord, darkness fell over the whole earth; my God, render the power of the devil tenuous and dim, for it is for this that you have come, O Son of the living God: so that you might destroy the works of the devil. With your power, drive out from this place and from me, your servant, this plague; and may the corrupt air† depart from me into the outer darkness.

+ Defend us, O Cross of Christ, and expel from this place the plague, and free your servant from this plague, you who are kind, and merciful, and of many mercies, and true.

B. Blessed is he who does not look upon vanities, and false extravagances; on the day of evil the Lord will free him; Lord, I have trusted in you; free me from this plague.

F. God has become my refuge; because I have trusted in you, free me from this plague.

R. Look upon me, O Lord my God, Adonai, from the holy seat of your Majesty, and have mercy on me, and because of your mercy, free me from this plague.

S. You are my Salvation: heal me, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved.

Amen.

----

For the past weeks or so a Bible verse has been on my mind.  It is John 21:18, which reads as follows.

Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.

I think I mentioned we had some illness in the family.  I know there are others of you that are going through similar things.

My 96-year-old mother-in-law who was living independently in the home she lived in most of her adult life, went to the hospital a couple weeks ago because of a heart valve problem finally catching up with her.  She also has a mass on her lungs, probably from years breathing dust while working in a plastics manufacturing plant.  She was taken by the ambulance to the hospital and is now in rehabilitation center and is receiving a lot of much needed assistance, even though she really doesn't want to be there.  She is not expected to last long.  She avoided doctors as much as she could.  She did not get Covid vaccinated, but successfully avoided Covid by her own methods, as did the other two 96-year-old women in my family.  They are another breed from another time.  My mother avoids aspirins.  I finally convinced her to take one when she had a tooth ache, and one when she was having trouble with arthritis.  She refused to take a second on both occasions.  Other than the daily baby aspirins I finally got her to take in the past few years, I doubt that she has taken more than a dozen aspirins in her entire life.  Good luck telling those near centenarians what to do.  They did it their way, and you'll be lucky to do so well no matter how much you think you know.

These ladies were born before penicillin.  They survived a lot, including a good many years.  And all three, up until recently alone and independently - two having lost a husband several years ago.  The verse was meant to describe the fate of Peter, but no matter how tough or how independent you are, there likely will come a time when you will need assistance, and someone will carry you where you do not want to go.

When you meet someone in the store or wherever, many people are going through difficulties you know nothing about.  I know some of those who read this blog are.  Be kind.

4/1922 Report - Another Method of Scooping Up Treasure. Old Electrolysis Kit. Bigger Surf Coming.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the ezclusive use of the TreasureBeachesReport

Kelly-Kleen Electrolysis System.
\
I found this booklet in a box of old research materials.  I purchased the Kelly-Kleen electrolysis system back in 1992.  The receipt is attached to the booklet.  It still works and I still use it once in a while even though I've had it for thirty years.  It isn't often you purchase something that is still used so many years later.

You can use a lot of things to do electrolysis these days.  You probably have everything you need around the house.  Maybe you'll need a package of alligator clips.

In 2018 I did a post telling how to use a common AC adapter to do electrolysis.

Here is the link.

I still remember the first time I used the Kelly Kleen.  I overdid it and ruined a buffalo nickle.

Here is one more photo from the 1941 National Geographic article I mentioned yesterday.  It is the one showing a salvage diver using a diving helmet.

I can't find that photocopy right now, so I can't post the name of the people shown.

Deep-Dive Scoop.

Here is another way to scoop up treasure.  A large and extremely sturdy basket with a 30-foot adjustable handle.

I've used the Deep-Dive.  It works, but it is a lot of work.   It is one way to scoop up underwater treasure without getting wet.

That is another old thing I found in my box of old papers.

I once showed the Deep-Dive scoop in an old post.  Here it is.

See The Treasure Beaches Report Direct From Florida's Treasure Coast.: 6/26/13 Report - It's not over til the Fat Lady sings. Producing Beaches & Big Scoop.

I put the shovel in the scoop just for size comparison.  It is a regular shovel.  It has three lengths of heavy PVC handle that can be attached.

Durham: I Have Evidence the FBI & CIA KNEW Trump/Russia Was Bogus (rumble.com)

Durham is making a lifetime job out of finding out what everybody already knew for years.   Give those DC folks credit for finding ways to get on the public money train.

So tomorrow we should see a bump in the surf.  Tides are still pretty good too.

Good north wind started this morning.

I haven't been able to get out much lately.   It has been a difficult year.

Good hunting.
