About a month ago, an anchor from the 1800s was found on Flagler beach after a large erosion event.  No one knows how it got there or if it is associated with a shipwreck.

One reader of this blog, was investigating artifacts of what appeared to be a wreck on Flagler Beach a few years ago.  This could be part of that, but I don't know.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — An archaeological bonanza is being unearthed in St. Augustine.

This dig is revealing that the native American village could be bigger -- or at least in a different place -- than previously imagined.

That same site would later become one of the state’s first commercial orange groves.

Some people may be familiar with the site on Bridge Street, where an old blue house stands crumbling and vegetation has taken over...

The house restoration and archaeological dig are revealing some surprises.

One of those surprises is about the mission site of the Native American village called Palica.

"It was only mapped once," Sims said.

That was in the 1700s.

In 1656, an 891-ton Spanish galleon was tasked with carrying kingly riches across the Atlantic. The Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas (Our Lady of Wonders) was weighted down with more gold than usual, as it had taken on the precious cargo of another treasure-filled ship that had sunk two years earlier. Unfortunately, the giant vessel collided with another member of its fleet and then hit a coral reef in the warm waters off the Bahamas and sank to the ocean floor. It took its treasure with it. A recent expedition by Allen Exploration, in partnership with local divers and researchers, has raised some of this glorious treasure to the surface...

If you thought hurricane season is almost over, it's not.  Sept. 10 is the peak of the season, so there is still more to go.

Surprisingly Earl is the only system on the NHC map right now.

Nonetheless, MagicSeaWeed is still showing a nice high surf coming up next week.

Predicted Surf For Fort Pierce Area.
Source: MagicSeaWeed.com.

That is a pretty good surf predicted for Tuesday, especially considering that the tides lately have been big.

Yesterday I showed the current condition of a couple of the beaches.

Keep watching to see how the surf predictions develop.

Good hunting,
