Lost Wedding Ring in Brush After Ian. Source; see nbcnews like below. |
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Ashley Garner had given up on ever seeing her wedding ring again.
She lost it outside her Fort Myers home just days before Hurricane Ian crashed into the coast of southwest Florida last Wednesday. Despite enlisting her husband and three young children to help search around their yard and garage for two days, there was no sign of the ring.
“I just accepted that it was gone,” Garner said...
“We’re about 10 minutes into cleaning, and my husband is cleaning up the brush and the trees right next to the garage door,” Garner said. “There’s a pile of brush and trees, and he moves over one pile, and the ring was right there.” ...

I got word that Turtle Trail was open but pretty much sanded in. You might have to take a long walk.

I''ve been going to do a post on older Treasure Coast silver rings finds. It can be difficult to determine an age for many of them since the basic features have not changed much over the centuries. Those of the 17th century look very much like many from the 20th century. Many of the same stones or settings were used. In many cases you have a silver band that provides no particular clues. Sometimes there isn't a lot, if anything, to distinguish those of various dates. Those found on archaeological sites look very much like many more modern rings found on the beach. Of course, silver marks or manufacturer marks provide a clue. There are modern ones made by individuals that are not marked though. I once attended a class on lost wax casting and made one or two myself. You might occasionally find a unprofessionally made ring like that which bears no marks even though it is not very old.

With everything else, the president says we are in danger of nuclear war now. He said, “We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis." He suggested the threat from Putin is real “because his military is — you might say — significantly underperforming.”
