1/5/22 Report - Closed Beaches. Fossil Find. Big Tides. Rough Surf Predicted for Treasure Coast.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach Wednesday Afternoon.

The surf was rougher today.  Looked like about four or five feet early at John Brooks early in the afternoon.  You can see John Brooks above.

The water waves were parallel to the beach, and the water had been high on the beach. The seaweed line was back near the dunes.

I saw no cuts and the slope was mushy.

Seagrape Trail and Turtle Trail beach accesses were closed Wednesday afternoon.  Trucks were coming and going at Seagrape Trail..  It looked like they were getting ready to start renourishment at Turtle Trail.  There was a tractor and several small trucks there.

Both Seagrape and Turtle are scheduled to be closed until January 30.  (Thanks to DJ for that info.)

There were a lot of tourists and traffic around Vero.  The Wabasso beach parking lot was full.

Finds by Alberto S.

Here is what Alberto asked.

I was wondering if you could provide input as to whether the large item on the picture, even the small one supporting it so I could get a shot of the side with my phone, are actually fossils. The larger piece is about 1 1/2 inches long and wide.

I think the bigger piece is probably a sloth tooth fossil.  I can't tell what the other one is.

Neat find Alberto.  Thanks for sharing.

Looks like we could possibly get some big surf in the near future, but Seagrape and Turtle Trail will be closed.

Happy hunting,
