5/17/23 Report - Old Artifacts Found by Chance. Very Old Scissors. Dating Historical Artifacts. Federal Bottle Embossing.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Archaeologists in Germany have unearthed a stash of grave goods — including a folded sword that may have been used in battle and an "exceptionally good" pair of scissors — inside a 2,300-year-old Celtic cremation tomb.

Based on the variety of the artifacts, which also include a portion of a shield, a razor, a fibula (clasp), a belt chain and a spearhead, researchers think that a man and a woman were buried there. Between the third century B.C. and second century B.C. th3 Celts — who lived in mainland Europe — burned their dead and buried their remains in pits alongside their belongings, according to a translated statment (opens in new tab).

An excavation team searching for explosive devices leftover from World War II discovered the items by chance, according to the statement..

2,300-year-old scissors and 'folded' sword discovered in a Celtic cremation tomb in Germany | Live Science

Isn't it interesting how some things, like this basic tool, don't change over the centuries.  A similar pair of scissors is shown in Deagan's book on Spanish Colonial artifacts, which would be only two or hundred years old, but look very much like the ones shown above, which are thought to be thousands of years old.

Here is the figure from the Deagan book.

And here is the book.  Very useful.

A couple days ago I used a chisel (actually wedge) that was dug and could be very old.  I don't know exactly how old, but it could be pretty old, and yet it is still useable.  I wouldn't have used it, but was in a pinch and had it handy.  It worked well no matter how old it is.  I used it despite the fact I had put a protective coating on it.

Here is an app that is supposed to help you identify coins from images that you supply.  I haven't spent much time with it yet to see how well it works.  Give it a try and let me know.  I'm sure the quality of the image you provide will be important.

You've seen bottles with this message.  I don't usually keep them, but at least you know how old they are.

Nearly a thrity-yeat spread but helpful in some cases.

14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
