2/5/23 Report - Another Box of Chocolates Post. More Mystery Items. Roxy Soda Bottle. Big Surf Coming.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Little Container of Miscellaneous Finds.

I was going to do something else today, but it wasn't coming together so I decided to do another "box of chocolates" post.  The last one I did was my 1/31/23 post.

Above is a little container with a variety of finds.  I didn't know what was in there until I started to look through them and was amazed on two points.  One, the variety is amazing, and there are some really good finds in there.  At least I think so.

On top of that, I also found out that in some ways this group of finds is a lot like the finds I found and showed in my first box of chocolates post.  This group also contains a number of mistery finds - some of which I feel like I have a good idea about and others no idea at all.

I won't go through all the items in the container today.

Copper sheathing, pot shard, and black glass.

As you might recall I had one of each of those in the last BOC post I did.

Two Parts of Orphan Annie Decoder.

As you can see the Orphan Annie Decoder is dated 1936.  I remember exactly where I found it.  It was at an old home site in West Virginia.  There is a little hidden box for holding secret messages.

Silver Claw Ring.

I always wondered if this ring was meant to be used as a weapon because it would certainly tear up anyone hit by someone wearing it.  It was found in Dade County.

Ornate Hook.

I'm now not sure where this hook was found.

Kenya Casino Token.

I should have kept this one with my other casino tokens.  I don't know why it is in the box.

Earring, Mystery Object, Heisman Trophy Pin.

On the left is an earring that looks like a French coin with other miniature coins dangling from it.

Next is a mystery item that really has me baffled.  It might be a button. I have no idea what the mark indicates though.  I'll get better photos of that one some other time.

Next is a Heisman Club lapel pin.

1991 Heisman Club Lapel Pin.

I am not sure who is in the Heisman Club, but it could be the journalists who vote.  The Heisman award was originally originated by the Downtown Athletic Club.  The group that administers the award is now called the Heisman Trophy Trust.

That pin was found on Miami beach.

25 Alabama Tag.

I never figured out what this tag is.  Dog tag, maybe (?).  I don't know.  Any ideas?  It was found on the Treasure Coast.

It is interesting how going back through old finds like this can take you on a journey through the past and the many locations you hunted and the experiences you had.

I didn't get through half of the items in that little container.  And I didn't get to the best finds.  I'll finish the group some other time.

Roxy Soda Bottle Find.

I recently added a ROXY soda bottle and a few other bottles to the TGBottleBarn.blogspot.com site.

The bottle isn't very good, but is somewhat unique to me for some reason.  It is one I never saw or remembered from my youth.  That could be what makes it seem more unique to me.

I've found a lot of the painted label or ACL bottles, and unfortunately the labels don't stand up well when they've rolled around in the water a long time.  I do like the advertising art displayed through the labels.

Anyhow, the highlight of that Bottle Barn post is not so much the bottle as the exceptionally excellent article on Roxy and the Hicksville Bottling Works I found while doing my research.

Its a dreary day this morning.  Cool and rainy.

Surf Chart from Surfguru.com.

Today we had a little blow just after noon.  The wind switched around, but most of Sunday was from the south.

Looks like it could result in better beach metal detecting conditions.

Good hunting,
