Here is a first for me.
Recognize this recently dug item?
Dug Headphone Assembly Without Ear Element. Circa 1920s(?). |
The metal parts are in good shape. I'll be hoping to find the ear piece and wires.
Below is what is described online as a 1920s headset.

I have been going to this same fishing spot for past year. First time I have seen any jewelry. Mostly fishing lures, etc. Did find some really nice fishing pliers and hook retriever last year. The jewelry is plastic, but would had been cool if it was real silver and amethyst stones.

Alberto fixed up the photo of Walter and Buddy that I posted on Memorial Day.
Walter and Buddy circa 1921. |
Interesting thing is that with some additional online research we found that Walter died in France during WWI. A fellow soldier described it. Walter was first shot in the leg, was limping back, then was hit in the shoulder, fell down and while trying to stand up again, took a final shot in the neck.
Walter died during WWI prior to the 1921 date inscribed in pencil on the postcard. I don't know what happened, but a misleading piece of information like that can really cause a lot of confusion.
Thought you'd like to see what can be done with old photos and postcards. Thanks Alberto!

I also found a new marking on a railroad spike head.

I've not yet found a list of spike markings. I'm hoping to find some date spikes.

The surf is running about two feet. The tides are small, and there is no tropical activity of interest.
Happy hunting,
