Looks like we might get some higher surf next weekend.

I usually post the surf predictions as given for the Fort Pierce inlet, but you can get the specific predictions for Sebastian and other points from MagicSeaWeed.com.

Above is the chart for Fort Pierce, below is the chart for Sebastian, just to provide two examples.

Sebastian Surf Predictions

They will be similar, but slightly different, as they are in this case.  Note the bigger surf predicted for the Sebastian area for Saturday.

A seven or eight foot surf can be enough if everything else is right, however there is a lot of beach sand in most places right now.

The difference between the areas on the Treasure Coast will not usually be significant for detectorists.  A foot or two here or there usually will not be any big deal.  It will have more to do with the angles and other details.

In the picture of Golden Sands you see some small cuts, but they aren't very significant, particularly if you are hunting old items.  That is surface detail.

There will be tide differences too.  Today the low tide at Sebastian Inlet will be around 12:40 PM, while at Fort Pierce it is shown as 12:22.   You might take that into account if you wanted to check out both areas.

There is a tropcial storm out in the middle of the Atlantic, but it won't affect us much.  It is tropical storm Wanda.

Archeologists have uncovered a set of "incredible" rare Roman statues while excavating a site in England ahead of a high speed rail project, the rail company said in a statement.
Two complete statues of a woman and a man, along with the head of a child, were found at the site of the old St Mary's Norman church in Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire, south east England, while archeologists were excavating a ditch around the foundations of an Anglo-Saxon tower.
As experts working on the High Speed 2 (HS2) project dug down, they found the three "stylistically Roman" busts, a discovery which archeologists have described as "astounding."...

Here is the link for more about that.

I always enjoy the added reward of any non-metallic finds that come out of the hole when digging a metal target.  There are a lot of them in the ground.  Many remain undiscovered.

One find that I liked from the Indian River Ridge site where I dug a lot of railroad stuff is the signal lantern lens.  There were others, including bottles and things, but it tells you how much is down there when you accidentally dig up something like that, and most of it remains undiscovered unless you do a lot of digging.

Turn over enough soil and you are going to find something.

Finds on Oak Island are truly meagre for the amount of time and effort expended.

Could it be an ancient UFO base?   That, and maybe bigfoot, are about only things they haven't drooled about, but I could have missed that.

As one of the most heavily trafficked inland waterways in the world, Lake Erie has seen more than its share of catastrophe and tragedy. While it is the second smallest of the five Great Lakes, an enormous number of ships have sunk beneath its waters, possibly as many as 2500, according to the estimates of some archaeologists and historians...

Funny how Hollywood is so against guns but they can hardly do a movie without a bunch of shooting and car chases.

The way things are going, before long we'll need the border wall to keep people in.

Happy hunting,
