3/20/23 Report - Some Scattered Cuts On Some Treasure Coast Beaches Monday Morning. TG's Big-3.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach Monday Morning.

We had a day or two of north winds and longshore currents flowing north to south.  I wanted to see what the beaches looked like after that, so I went out this morning when I had a chance.

There were some cuts even though they were scattered and not real big.

You can't see it well in the above photo, but there were some cuts north of John Brooks, up by the bend.

I zoomed in on that photo so you could see that.

Frederick Douglass is normally very much like John Brooks.

Again, near the beach access, there were not cuts, but there were some in the distance to the south.

I found a nice big buoy rolling in the surf.

They are dumping and spreading sand all along in front of the FPL property north of Walton Rocks.  So there is more new sand being dumped on our beaches.  Hated to see that.

It only took one of the three big factors to start a little erosion, even though it was not wide spread and the cuts were small.

The three big factors I'm talking about is wind direction, surf and tides.  Only one of TG's Big-3 (factors) was contributing much.  Of course, there are other factors to consider, but if you look at the Big-3, you will do pretty well.

We had brisk north winds for a day or two, and the resulting north to south longshore currents.  We had a small surf and moderate tides.  So it was the first factor, north winds, pretty much working alone to cause scattered small cuts.  Much of the beach in between cuts was still very mushy.  Cuts only occurred where the angles were right.

I think I could develop a formula that would predict pretty well.

As you can see we'll have a little more time with north winds.  By the time the surf increases the wind will have shifted too.

Good hunting,
