After living in their 18th-century United Kingdom townhouse for ten years, an anonymous couple decided it was time to make a few upgrades. During the renovations, however, they unearthed the surprise of a lifetime: more than 260 rare gold coins dating back hundreds of years, reports CNN’s Sana Noor Haq.

And while it’s unclear how much the couple spent on their home improvement project, the coins may just help offset some of the costs. They’re expected to fetch upwards of £250,000 ($288,000) at auction next month, per an emailed statement from the auction house Spink & Son.,,


But when they investigated the obstruction, they realized they’d hit upon a small stoneware cup brimming with gold coins. The cup, buried six to eight inches below ground, was about the same size as a soda can, per Spink & Son...

Someone showed me what looked like a melted piece of metal found on the beach and asked me about finding space debris on the Treasure Coast.  You might remember that I talked about that a good bit in the past and described some tests for titanium.

There was a fellow on Youtube who sluiced sand bought from some of the big-name home improvement stores.  He found small bits of gold in the sand bought from three different stores.  

Just thought that was interesting.  Seems that gold is pretty pervasive but in quantities too small to be economically recovered.

So the surf is decreasing and will be from the north for a while.  Just wondering if that might sweep some of the lower spots that have been producing if they did not get refilled some in the past couple of days.  If I get a chance to go out, I'd check that out.
