11/16/23 Report - High Surf and High Tides Combine to Create Beach Erosion and Improved Beach Metal Detecting Conditions on the Treasure Coast.

Written by the Treasureguide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Frederick Douglass Beach Thursday Near Morning High Tide.

The beaches are eroding.  I didn't get out yesterday because I had morning and afternoon appointments but managed to get out today.  The beaches I saw were eroded as much as I've seen for a long time.

The cut was about five feet high along much of Frederick Douglass beach.

John Brooks beach was also cut.

The cut was about six feet high in most places, and the beach was cut back pretty close to the dunes.

John Brooks Beach Thursday Morning.

The cut alternated between areas where the cut face was a little sloped and areas where it was steep.

You wouldn't want to get caught in between a big wave and the cut.  The bounce back could wash you into the water.  That was one danger.

There were also logs and boards washing around in the water.  They can knock you off or bust your ankle.  That is a second danger.

The cut was a deep and far back as I've seen for quit a while.

Beach metal detecting conditions are definitely improved.  I can say that even though I haven't seen a lot of the beaches.

There will be old shipwreck finds.  Of course, some places will be better than others, but there will be some good spots out there.

I wanted to get that posted this morning.

That is all for now.

Good hunting,
