I took the next photo to show how close the berm was to the dunes now. Of course, the dunes have been moving forward too.

I then moved down to Frederick Douglass Beach. There was one detectorists working the beach to the south.

Of the three beaches I visited, they were all very similar. The slopes were farther back and a little steeper, perhaps.

There were a few small cuts.
I noticed one area that I detected a little while and found some coins and a silver ring.
All the finds were at the top of a layer of older sand and shells under the several inches or more under the top layer.

Most of the dug coins were heavily encrusted and at first glance looked older than they were.

Overall, conditions are somewhat improved, but not a lot yet.
The wind was still blowing good and the surf was rough, but as expected, very little cutting - only a few very small cuts.
---
Still not much of a low tide, but another early morning high tide.
So, the surf is not expected to be quite so high as predicted earlier. Still seven to nine feet is pretty good. Too bad the winds will be mostly easterly followed by some west winds.
I only had a little time and saw only three beaches but got in a little detecting. I'm sure that there will be at least a few spots producing some older finds.
Good hunting,
