The diving suit shown above was made of stitched pig skin. The diver entered through a narrow flap in the front of the suit and then sealed it as well as he could with draw strings inside te suit. I'm pretty sure I've referred to this report before, and likely more than once, but even so, it might be worth looking at once again. It is about a wreck site that I've never visited or metal detected. New discoveries on the site have been made in recent years.
The Melbourne Beach Shipwreck A Missing 1715 Fleet Vessel By Dr. Robert H. Baer Professional Archaeologist Seafarer Exploration Corp Executive Summary is a report that provides an excellent example of a couple diagnostic artifacts that were successfully researched. The Monteros platters and Ramirez flintlock helped identify the Melbourne wreck as the Santisima Trinidad y Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion, one of the 1715 Fleet wrecks.
