Turtle Trail As Seen on Aug. 5

These pictures of Turtle Trail and the seaglass were taken on Aug.5, and submitted by Alberto S. who also mentioned that there were no signs of the blue erosion control bags.

You can definitely see that there was some sifting.  Notice, for example, the large shell areas.

Thanks for sharing Alberto.

On a day like that, you might want to keep your eyes open for shark teeth.  Check the bend just north of the Seagrape Trail access for shark teeth.

Below is a very interesting mystery object found on a New York beach.

Mystery Find for ID.

Please send me your ideas.  I have one thought, but it is just that.

I went out to do a little mucking the other day and ended up getting a hole in my foot from a nail that went right through the sole of my boot.  I was glad I was up on my tetanus shots, but it still hurts.

The science is as good as you would suspect.  They recommend tetanus shots every ten years, but some studies by the CDC have shown that the effects last up to 30 years.

That's the second time that happened to me in the past thirty years or so.  Protective gear is always a good idea.  Foot, hand and eye protection can all come in handy.

Tetanus or not, a nail in the foot is a pain.

So Debby could be helping the guys up at the Outer Banks now as she heads north.  Seems to be a slow mover.

We'll have a small surf for several more days.

The rain provides some heat relief but watch out for the lightning.  Also, check for rain runoff erosion.

Good hunting,
