5/19/21 Report - State of the Beaches Around the Treasure Coast. New Renourishment Sand. Bigger Surf Tomorrow.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

Wabasso Beach Wednesday Morning.

I took a look at some of the Treasure Coast beaches this morning and yesterday evening.  I'll start from the north and work back south.

First is Wabasso.  You can see the heavy sea weed accumulation.  Not a good sign.

Wabasso Beach Wednesday Morning.

Not many detectorists out Wednesday morning, but I saw a couple.

Seagrape Trail Wednesday Morning.

I saw this fellow at Seagrape Trail.

Turtle Trail Wednesday Morning.

Turtle Trail was similar, but had a wider flat area on the front of the beach.

Tuesday evening I took a look at some of the South Hutchinson Island beaches.

John Brooks Beach Tuesday Evening.

The South Hutchinson Island beaches looked very similar.

John Brooks Beach Tuesday Evening.

As is usually the case, Frederick Douglass beach looked very much like John Brooks.

Frederick Douglass Beach Tuesday Evening.

It looks like the beaches hadn't changed much over night.

Frederick Douglass Beach Tuesday Evening.

So that should help you decide where you want to go if you want to go detecting today.  At least you have an idea of what some of the beaches are doing today, which isn't much different from last night.

I put this one off to last.

Fort Pierce South Beach Tuesday Evening.

Iy took a look at Fort Pierce South Beach and couldn't believe my eyes.  The tons of new renourishment sand is amazing.  The beach has been made nearly a hundred yards wide and runs from the south jetty down to near the condos just to the north of John Brooks.   That is a huge amount of new sand, which will work its way south to Brooks and Douglass.

Fort Pierce South Jetty Tuesday Evening.

Up by the jetty it is eroding already.  I would have shaped the beach very differently id I wanted to slow the erosion, but they dumped tons and tons of sand, and it all starts over again.   Too bad it will be washing down to the treasure beaches.

Will have an even bigger surf tomorrow.

It wasn't many years ago that the size of the tides, surf and the waves was mostly what people talked about.  Since I've been doing this blog, now people realize that there are other very important factors, such as the direction of the wind and waves.  This blog has done a lot to advance understanding of erosion and how items are moved on a beach.

I've received good information about the mystery items I recently posted.  I'll post that in the near future and also get into a discussion of strategies and techniques.   You don't want to spend eight years and millions of dollars and have little to show for it unless you are doing a TV show.  I received some emails from readers about that sort of thing, which I'll post in the near future too.

Happy hunting,
