Here is the star of the recently concluded Sedwick auction.  The realized price of $85,000, was the highest realized price of the entire auction, which included many great lots.  The next highest prices that I noticed was $55,000 for lot 52.

I was a bit disappointed that the star of the auction was not a 1715 Fleet item.

Below is the lot description, which shows why it did so well.

Lot 52 brought the second highest price in auction no. 29.  The realized price for this lot was $55,000.
It is an Atocha item.

Here is the lot description.

There were a couple of  lots that sold for $45,000.  Here is one.  It is another Mexico NGC graded galano eight-reale.

These near perfect graded Mexico galanos brought higher prices than many fine escudos.

Here is the lot description.

Here is a Lima escudo that also sold for $45,000.  It is from the 1715 Fleet.

Next on my list is a big silver bar weighing almost 87 pounds.  It is another Atocha find.

That is a good variety among the top sellers - two silver galanos, a gold galano, a gold bar and a huge silver bar.  Not surprising that such fine galanos did so well.

In the future I hope to get into some analysis and draw price comparisons with a 1977 auction.

This is starting to look interesting.  The surf is building.  Now possibly up to 8 feet.  That is getting up there.   Unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll get much additional help from the wind direction or tides.

Happy hunting,
