The above 1858 One Cent coin was a sight find by Robby Groch. Robby is a teen detectorist but saw this coin on the surface of an old path that I've also hunted in the past. In fact, I was up there a few weeks ago and took a walk down the same old West Viginia path.
Below is a view taken from the path when the last of the leaves were falling.

It is a special place to me for several reasons, one of which is my ancestors were among the early settlers to the area. If you want an interesting read, get one of the books about Lewis Wetzel. He and his brother were captured by the Indians and escaped. One of the things Lewis was known for was his ability to reload a musket on the run, which would seem impossible, but he surprised many Indians that way.
