12/5/22 Report - Artifacts From "Ship of Gold" Sold At Auction. New Discoveries in Ancient Egypt. Bigger Surf Coming to Treasure Coast.

Written by the Treasureguide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

On December 3, 2022 many fascinating artifacts from the S. S. Central America were auctioned.

Here is the link to that article.

Thanka to SuperRick for that link.

And here is the link to the auction site that shows the lots and the realized prices.

Really cool stuff.

I know some people aren't much interested in auction results, but these auctions provide a great opportunity to become familiar with a wide range of coins, artifacts, and other items. It is very helpful to make a quick identification of dug items when you are detecting. Too many times I failed to recognize the identity and therefore importance of a dug item. Your finds can provide important clues that will tell you how to proceed. They can tell you to bear down and give the area a really intensive hunt.

I don't like to spend a lot of time inspecting items in the field, but I've too many times made the mistake of not recognizing a good find and moving on to other areas too quickly. A find can change the entire complexion of an area. especially when you learn that an area holds better older and better items than you thought.

An Egyptian archaeological mission has unearthed a new part of the Quweisna necropolis in Menoufiya governorate that is replete in mummies with golden tongues.

The discovery was made during excavations carried out in the central Nile Delta governorate in the past three months at the necropolis.
.
The mission also found a collection of clay pots, golden sheets in the shape of scarabs and lotus flowers, as well as a number of funerary stony amulets, scarabs, and vessels from the late ancient Egyptian, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods....

I saw some really cool finds from this year that I hope to be able to post for you in the near future. They include some finds that are better than the great finds that I've already posted.

Looks like the surf won't be decreasing as predicted days ago. Not only will the surf height be holding through the week, but it looks like Friday, we'll have a nice increase.

The high tides are nice and high.

Later today we are predicted to have an north wind.

Good hunting,
