12/10/22 Report - Higher Surf Piles Sand on Some Beaches, But We'll Get More High Surf and Swell Changes. New Detectors,

Written by the Treasure Guide for the exclusive use of the Treasure Beaches Report.

John Brooks Beach About 3 PM. Friday.

Tbe higher surf was reaching high and far back on the beaches, but there is very little erosion on South Hutchinson Island except the few exceptions where rocks, barriers or other special features disrupted the flow of sand.   Yesterday, as the waves hit the beach straight on, John Brooks and Frederick Douglass,  showed no cuts at all.  You could clearly see how the sand was being washed up and back on the beaches.

Below (pardon the finger) you can see the flow of sand, which left a dip between the sand newly piled up on the beach, and the dunes.

The top layer that was being pushed back (above) was about six inches deep.

There are times when other things come in with the sand, but then you will see shells, stones and other things along with the sand.  Watch the size and type of stuff that is washed in.

So the beach front was very mushy with all that accumulating sand.

Frederick Douglass beach was very similar (below).  It was even more mushy than John Brooks.

The water wasn't getting as far back yet, as it did during Nichole, but the peak surf hadn't arrived yet if the MagicSeaweed. predictions are right.

I also took a quick look at Blind Creek.  No cuts there either.

Garry M., of Treasure Coast Metal Detectors said, You are right about the Manticore it’s selling for $1599 we see taking orders for that. It is supposed to go 50 percent deeper than the Equinox. The 700/900 have really had some great new features added like new water depth, flash light and vibration in the hand grip. The 900 comes with a 6 and 11 inch coil plus the gold mode. All there are major improvements from Minelab. We are taking pre-orders for all of them.

I''ve read a few reviews on the new Equinoxes. Of course, i haven't been able to actually try one out myself yet so will leave that for someone else.

The surf will peak early and decrease today, but will stay high, hitting something close to nine feet again if the predictions are correct.

One of the good things, is that the wind direction will change, which will give a chance for different beaches to open up.  There are some places that erode occasionally from a south wind, for example, and we are supposed to get some of that in a few days.  You'll might want to look for spots that haven't completely recovered from Nicole.

Good hunting,
