10/19/20 Report - Bigger Surf Coming. Treasure Coast Beaches Not Much Affected Yet. Old Photos and Family Research.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

Hurricane Winds Friday According To GFS Model.
Ventusky.com.

The predicted hurricane shown above is now Tropical Depression 27, which is shown on the NHC map below.  That system is big factor in our wind and increasing waves.  Instead of coming towards us, it is expected togo  north and out to sea.

The area down by the Yucatan is where a storm was predicted to develop, but it didn't, and now it doesn't look like it will become better organized.

MagicSeaWeed is still predicting a high surf for later this week.

The Fort Pierce area is predicted to have a 7 - 11 foot surf on Friday.  That is pretty big, and we'll still be having a good high tide.

The only problem I'm seeing is easterly winds.  You can see that on the Ventusky map at the top of this page.

We'll see how those predictions turn out.

As of yesterday, not a lot of erosion has occured on the Treasure Coast, but there was a little.

I got reports and photos from a couple people who visited Turtle Trail yesterday. As you can see there were some small cuts and the tops of some of the bags were showing.

The wind was blowing pretty much from the north but there wasn't that much angle to the waves.

You can see a small cut and some bag tops in the photo above.

Looks like there were more bags showing to the south.

We need to lose some more sand.

By the way, they say that Seagrape Trail access is still closed.

I want to correct an error I made in a post a few days ago.  I posted it as if Colorado's new St. Cabrini Day replaced Columbus Day.  Actually Colorado's St. Cabrini Day is a week earlier than Columbus Day and does not replace Columbus Day.

Here is a link that will tell you more about St. Cabrini.

I found this neat old photo, and was wondering what kind of date you would put on it.

I'm not sure who the fellows are yet.

The photo itself looks like it was made using an earlier process.  I need to look into that more too.

It is nice to find old photos, but very often they are not labeled.  My advice is if you have photos you'd like to be passed down in your family, label them with names, dates and places.

For me, old photos can be a real treasure.  It is really nice when you find a photo, do the research and hook people into their family tree.

FamilySearch.org is a great research tool that is free.   You just need to register an account name and password.  It is by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and provides census, military, marriage and other kinds of records.
