11/2/2020 Report - A Rougher Surf Monday Erodes Many Treasure Coast Beaches.

North of McLarty

Yesterday I told you to watch for the bigger surf that was supposed to come Monday.  It showed up.

It also did the beaches some good.  In fact, I'm increasing my treasure beach detecting conditions rating to at least a 2.   I'm not convinced it should be a solid three yet, but I'd be surprised if nothing is found.  I'm really tempted to give it a three, but can't quite do it.

These photos were taken by DJ. today (Monday).  You can see that some beaches were more eroded than others, as you would expect, but there are several that look interesting.

Thanks much DJ!

I had an appointment in the Vero area this afternoon and had time to take a look at Turtle Trail.

It was very much like it was back a couple weeks ago, at its best.  I think it was the 18th and 19th when Turtle Trail cut and the bags were showing.  The bags were showing today like that, and the orange sand was not deeply buried.  In some places it was only about an inch deep.

Today it was a bit better than it was then.  In some spots the sand was a few inches lower than it was back then, but the cliff was not back as near the dunes as it was a couple weeks ago.  You can see the remains of the previous cliff in the photos.

These photos are from just north of the access.  There were about ten detectorists there around low tide.

As you can see below, the surf will decrease a little tomorrow but remain at four to six feet for a few days.   As always, the angles will have a lot to do with how the beaches develop.

Happy hunting,
